Ain't Leaving Now is a Third Person Beat Em Up I was tasked to create for the first 3 weeks of my semester. The premise I decided to put as a foundation to the game is our player character setting out to clear the city he lives in of the gangs that plague it. Players will be able to clear levels through beating up thugs and destroying their operations. The main selling point is the satisfaction of delivering karma to the gangs through a beat down of them and their business. The story is still developing as I set out to create a first level of the game.

By Week 1 I managed to create a basic level with AI that can patrol and attack, kill players. The players can also punch and kill them, and is able to track their health through a health bar on the top left of the screen. The progress slowed on Week 2 as I attempt to incorporate punching animations to the enemies. The result broke the coding of both enemies and players. The randomized patrol path of enemies stopped working and they were unable to attack the player. I would attempt to replace some of the codes in the following days but during the holidays an unexpected problem happened.

My laptop had a battery issue where it is unable to store power and the cable was pulled by accident. The Unreal project was running during the shutdown and when I restarted the laptop, the file of the player character was completely corrupted and unable to be exported into the project. By end of week 3 I managed to remake the codes of the player character and designed the first level as an mall hallway. The Pause UI is also implemented.

The next plans I have is to add a Attack Block feature for the player and fix player coding.
